Snacks of Thanksgiving [List]

November, 1621 marks America’s “First Thanksgiving” meal.  The Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Indians shared a meal together after the Pilgrims had their first successful harvest.  Back then the feast most likely consisted of deer and corn.  Sadly, they did not have sweeteners like we do today, so no pies and desserts for them.

In 1863, during the Civil War, Abraham Lincoln made Thanksgiving a national holiday to be celebrated each November. Today it is celebrated throughout the United States featuring meal staples like turkey, dressing (or stuffing), pies, cakes, sweet potato casserole, ect….   Every family has their favorites as I am sure you do too.  (I personally enjoy my mom’s homemade apple pie!)

Being in the food business, we thought it would be fun to compare the dinner table favorites to snacks we offer that are similar.

1. Turkey & Gravy

Our version: Boulder’s Turkey and Gravy Chips

These chips taste just like turkey and gravy. I am not kidding! The thought of a chip tasting like turkey and gravy might seem crazy, but its true and you have to try it to believe it!

2. Pumpkin Pie

Our version: Lance Pumpkin Cheesecake Crackers

Pumpkin is a seasonal favorite in the Fall, so it is only fitting that we have this cracker to combat the pumpkin craze.

3. Apple Pie

Our version: Mrs. Freshley’s Apple Fruit Pie.

What Thanksgiving would be complete without some apple pie?

4. Sweet Potato Casserole

Our version: TGIF Sweet Potato Chips

No, this chip doesn’t come with marsh mellows and brown sugar, but that is a good idea!

5. Mashed potatoes

Our Version: Lays Classic Potato Chips

Potato, Pot[ah]to:  Either way its basically the same thing right?

6. Cranberry Sauce

Our version: Ocean Spray Cranberry Cocktail Juices

You have to wash down all those chips somehow.

7. Macaroni and Cheese

Our version: Kraft Mac  and Cheese single serve

So this basically is the same as at dinner except single serve and microwavable.   Nothing is more comforting than a good dose of mac and cheese.
