Five Star offers the widest selection of fresh food products in the industry, and we’re proud of our own brands, Ave C, Choice Plus Fare, and Fresh to You, all of which are produced in our HACCP certified and FSMA compliant culinary center.

Of course, we can’t create everything in our kitchens.  But we can (and do) ensure everything we offer is as high in quality and value. To do so, we partner with those leading manufacturers that can deliver high quality products at reasonable prices.

We’re firm believers in the old adage, “If you want something done right, do it yourself,” and we have the facilities to prove it.  Five Star is one of the few foodservice companies in the Southeast that produces its own food, giving us the capabilities of creating as much as six million pieces annually.

In fact, because we own our culinary centers, we oversee all facets of the delicious, fresh food you find in your vending machines.  This allows us to ensure our ingredients are the freshest, most wholesome and flavorful available, our recipes are contemporary and delicious, and most of all, the safety of our food service and products is uncompromising. And because the variety of our menus and programs is so large, it’s a breeze to customize our offerings to your specific needs.

Food Safety

We spend most of our time extolling the excellence of our service and products, but there is no greater concern to us than food safety.  We own our own fresh food production facility, and we work very hard to keep it ranked among the nations safest with regard to food safety assessment scores. A large benefit of owning our production facility to our customers (and us) is that we are able to carefully manage the entire process from production to your door.

Our facility is Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) Certified, reinforcing our commitment to your food safety. HACCP is an FDA management program which addresses food safety through the analysis and control of biological, chemical, and physical hazards. It covers raw material production, procurement and handling,  manufacturing, distribution, and consumption of finished products.  We pride ourselves on certification in this vital federal food safety program.

We also put ourselves voluntarily through the a rigorous annual audit by Merieux NutriSciences. Merieux provides us a score based on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Food Safety Systems. To view our most recent audit, click here.

We stay on top of all of the latest regulations and guidelines from the FDA, including its most recent release of the Food Safety Modernization Act signed into law in 2011 and has been rolled out over the past 5 years.
